Here's how the first KA sprint races went at Brands Hatch

Qualifying set the scene for the day, with the session only setting the grid for the first race. All others would be dictated by the previous races result. Early pace by the Frugal Racing KA showed the way, as a lap early on in the session was enough to claim the pole position. Octane Junkies KA secured second place just one lap later with a time one tenth of a second behind the pole sitter. It was CHR Motorsport with Motex that claimed third, just one tenth of a second ahead of PistonHeads in fourth. With just over a second separating the top seven cars, it was going to be close.

RACE 1:

With the cars over the line for the start of race one, it was a tentative race down into Paddock Hill for the first time. Frugal Racing managed to hold onto the lead as Octane Junkies and CHR w/ Motex fought it out with PistonHeads for second place. With the leaders maintaining their lead, albeit only a second between them, eyes turned to the battle for the mid-field. KAstrol, Amigo Motorsport and IP Racing were trading places just outside of the top ten, with the IP car just able to best their rivals. In the latter portion of the race. LDR’s fast starting Matt Robinson managed to join the battle, up from nineteenth on the grid, but was unable to get past the group, until Amigo dived for the pits with three laps to go. Over the line, Frugal Motorsport took the win, ahead of Octane Junkies, with CHR w/ Motex in third, PistonHeads in Fourth. The battle for the mid field was won by IP Racing, just ahead of KAstrol. A late charge by NMD Motorsport saw them jump both LDR cars to take thirteenth with three to go.

RACE 2:

Race two started in similar fashion to race one, with the Frugal car defending into Paddock Hill from Octane Junkies and PistonHeads. This time however a strong start for SuperKA Racing saw them challenging PistonHeads for fourth. SuperKA managed to find a way past early on, but just as their pace appeared, so did the Safety Car to recover a KA in the gravel at Paddock Hill. Once the Safety Car had returned to the pits, pace seemingly shifted to the Frost Racing KA, as Frostick managed to not only pass PistonHeads, but also the fast starting SuperKA Racing KA! It was short lived though, as PistonHeads was soon in fourth again as the Frost Racing KA and SuperKA Racing KA both retired to the pits. A late charge from the IP Racing KA successfully challenged PistonHeads for fourth with three laps to go. In the end it was Frugal Racing for the win, ahead of Octane Junkies, and CHR w/ Motex in third. Fourth was held by IP Racing ahead of PistonHeads in fifth.

RACE 3:

Race three saw sixth place Club Racing UK start well, as the leaders put into play the well-rehearsed first stint of the race. Club Racing UK were able to climb to fifth, and then fourth over the first few laps. Slowed by the challenge, CHR w/Motex in third this time fell away from the lead pair while defending from the gold and black Club Racing KA. Just behind the fight for third, PistonHeads fell afoul of the battle between KAstrol and NMD Motorsport, as the pair managed to find a way past the PistonHeads car. It was to be short lived though and the PistonHeads KA fought back past KAstrol and NMD. The pack was slowly creeping up to the back of Club Racing UK though. The fight for fourth, then became the fight for third as the pack engulfed Club Racing UK with three laps left. PistonHeads found a way past, and could now see CHR w/ MOTEX in front. With two laps to go, PistonHeads snatched third away from CHR Motorsport to take the last step of the podium. Over the line it was Frugal Racing, from Octane Junkies, with PistonHeads in third and CHR having to settle for fourth.

RACE 4:

Race four saw CHR challenge the top two early on, but as both the CHR and Octane Junkies cars ran wide at Graham Hill on the first lap, the podium positions were blown wide open. PistonHeads were first to take advantage as they lead Club Racing UK in second and third behind leaders Frugal Racing. It was SuperKA racing on the move again though as they found the form shown in race two and jumped both PistonHeads and Club Racing to take second. Although showing good pace Club Racing UK then fell back into the clutches of a recovering CHR w/ Motex, losing out not just to them but while slowed and trying to defend were also picked off by Team Cheetah’s Freddie Hewitt. At the flag, it was Frugal Racing with a clean sweep of four wins, ahead of SuperKA Racing in second. Despite a late charge CHR Motorsport was unable to pass PistonHeads for third, and had to settle for fourth just in front of Club Racing UK fifth, and Frost Racing sixth.
