The second round of EnduroKA 2022 roared into life at Cadwell Park on Saturday May 7th. With sunshine beaming down on the Lincolnshire Wolds circuit, it was Martyn Smith of Octane Junkies who laid down the early benchmark in the morning’s qualifying session.

It became quickly apparent the battle for pole would be tense, as Octane Junkies, Track Focused, IP Racing and Wolf Motorsport all traded quickest lap times as the session progressed. With just a few minutes left, Luke Reade set a blistering time of 1:55:670 that couldn’t be bested – securing pole position for Wolf Motorsport’s ‘Pink Pig’. Last year’s Cadwell Park victors, IP Racing, lined up second on the grid, narrowly edging Track Focused by just 0.043 seconds. PSR, Turn 7, Octane Junkies, Misty Racing and Sukaru Racing rounded out the top eight, in that order.

As the green flag signaled race start, Wolf Motorsport capitalised on their qualifying pace to maintain the lead of the race for the opening 20 laps. A determined Track Focused, who had got the jump on IP Racing at the start, chased Wolf Motorsport hard and eventually passed to take the race lead.

Pit stop strategy was as crucial as ever and the lead pack all seemed to opt for different approaches, meaning there was plenty of excitement as a variety of teams took their turn to head the field. Octane Junkies, Misty Racing, GM Performance, G&B Finch, Windgat Racing and Ka Lamaty all enjoyed short spells at the front, before an early stopping IP Racing took control of the race.

Continuous solid lap times and excellent race management made trio Ryan Parkin, Scott Parkin and Adam Blair untouchable at the front, ensuring that the team won at Cadwell for a second year in succession. Axia Metrics benefited from some excellent race strategy and exceptional overtakes as they stormed through the field to finish second, having started 15th on the grid! The final step of the podium belonged to Turn 7, who enjoyed a solid race to secure their first EnduroKA trophy of 2022. In fact, the podium was comprised of three teams who didn’t finish in the top three in the opening round, highlighting the incredibly competitive nature of EnduroKA this year!

KA Lamaty’s duo of Marcus Batty and Andrew Hinch delivered a strong performance to finish fourth, while Grid Finder rounded out the top five – in two of their driver’s second ever race! Luke Reade of Wolf Motorsport set the fastest lap of the race, replicating the feat he achieved earlier in qualifying.

The second winners of the prestigious Dagenham Dustbin this season were LDR Performance Racing for their Batman inspired livery – ‘The KAt Mobile’, which caught the eye and appreciation of the Cadwell marshals.

Next up for EnduroKA is our first ever 24-hour race and we cannot wait for the series to take Anglesey by storm.
