There's a new KA in town!

There's a new KA in town!

06 September 2022

Excitement within EnduroKA HQ for the upcoming Oulton Park round couldn’t be higher and we eagerly await welcoming new and returning faces to the Cheshire circuit. Amongst the newcomers is a brand-new outfit in DKMS/LDR Performance Tuning, piloted by a trio of EnduroKA rookies: Ed Cole, Brad Godbold and David Edwards.

EnduroKA had the pleasure of speaking with David Edwards to find out more about himself and the story behind the strikingly-designed #29 KA.

Q: Are you able to introduce yourself and explain what drew you to EnduroKA?

A: My name’s David Edwards – I’m married with three children and live in Nottingham. A keen and experienced sim-racer, I’ve always had a passion for endurance racing and have always dreamed of being a racing driver. Having attended the season opener at Donington and met the guys at LDR, I felt at home straight away. I cannot wait to be at both the Oulton Park and Brands Hatch rounds.

Q. Can you tell us more about DKMS, the charity that inspired your KA livery?

A. The DKMS charity is a stem cell charity that collects swab samples to store so that potential matches can be made. It can save a life – someone close to me had leukaemia and had stem cells from DKMS. People can get in touch with the charity at www.dkms.org.uk, or on Twitter, to find out more. The process of getting sent a swab kit and testing couldn’t be easier or simpler.

The livery is a simple yet effective red and white design. It’s copied from race cars I’ve created over the years on Forza Motorsport.

Q. How do you feel ahead of Oulton Park?

A. At the moment I feel fine about the race and am really looking forward to it. As said, I've wanted to be a racing driver since I was a small boy, but ask me on race day and that might tell a different story!

My goals for Oulton Park are: I want to learn, I want seat time and I want to finish. If I make a mistake I hope I don't affect anyone else's race.

Grant Nuon-Imlach, Senior External Affairs Manager at DKMS added: “We are delighted to be involved in EnduroKA racing to raise awareness of blood cancer and how to join the blood stem cell register. We look forward to seeing our branded KA at Oulton Park on Saturday and at Brands Hatch in November. To get involved with our work, visit www.dkms.org.uk

Thanks for taking the time David and Grant, it was fantastic to hear more about David and the incredible work DKMS are doing. We are delighted to welcome the DKMS team to our paddock for the remaining rounds of the 2022 EnduroKA season.
