Schweinerennen Race Report!

Schweinerennen Race Report!

06 July 2022

The first weekend of July played host to the piggiest EnduroKA race we’ve ever held. Snetterton’s 200 circuit welcomed the series inaugural Schweinerennen (German for pig race), with great excitement and anticipation for the nine hour endurance race.

Last time out, in EnduroKA’s first ever 24-hour race, AxiaMetrics secured their first win of 2022 and it was the Bedfordshire outfit who set the early qualifying pace. Their time wouldn’t last long though, as Windgat Racing’s Callum McDougall set an even quicker benchmark for competitors to best. Next to put themselves on provisional pole position was Wolf Motorsport’s Chris Reade, thanks to a pacey lap of 1:42:639. It looked as if the ‘Pink Pig’ of Wolf Motorsport would head the field into the inaugural pig race, however a blistering 1:42:611 by Joe Ferguson with just a couple of moments left in the session secured pole for Ferguson Motorsport #734. Incredibly, less than one tenth of a second separated the top three in qualifying, highlighting once again just how competitive the field is this year. Wolf Motorsport lined up alongside Ferguson Motorsport #734 on the front row, with: IP Racing, Windgat Racing and Ferguson Motorsport #736 rounding out the top five.

Following an incredibly strong qualifying session for the team, both Ferguson Motorsport two KA’s enjoyed fantastic starts. After the first hour, the pair found themselves at the front of the pack – separated by just 0.339secs. LDR Performance Racing also enjoyed a successful opening hour, jumping ten places from 15th on the grid to 5th overall.  As the initial pit stop merry-go-round developed, IP Racing, AxiaMetrics and VEC Motorsport all enjoyed spells at the front and began closely contesting Ferguson Motorsport’s two contenders.

At the halfway stage, the afore-mentioned top five seemed to break away from the remainder of the grid, however there was still no sign of a clear, established leader. Outside the top five, there was a number of hugely entertaining battles developing and some mega stints being put in. Amongst others, both PSR and KAMEL Racing were charging through the field and had gained a number of positions from their initial starting places.

Heading into the final third of the race, out front it was seemingly becoming a two horse race between AxiaMetrics and IP Racing. A thrilling chase ensued as IP Racing began to hunt down AxiaMetrics, before IP Racing’s Scott Parkin eventually made the crucial overtake to put his team out in front. After one last driver change, Adam Blair expertly guided the #36 IP Racing KA to become the first repeat EnduroKA winners of 2022. AxiaMetrics raced valiantly and were rewarded with the second step of the podium, while a consistently quick VEC Motorsport rounded out the top three. Polesitters Ferguson Motorsport #734 had to settle for fourth and LDR Performance Racing capitalised on their fantastic start to finish in fifth. Congratulations to all!

There were a number of excellent drives throughout the field and we would like to extend our congratulations to all finishers.

IP Racing added to their successful day by securing fastest lap, courtesy of a 1:41:582 from Adam Blair.

Following two long endurance races in quick succession, teams now face a well-earned short break, before attention turns to Oulton Park in September for the penultimate race of 2022. We can’t wait to see you all there.
