The picturesque Oulton Park International circuit welcomed EnduroKA on Saturday 26 April for the second round of the 2025 season.
Qualifying
Shine Automotive looked sharp at the beginning of the morning’s qualifying session, with Adrain Wood trading fastest times with Ka Lamaty’s Marcus Batty. It would be Batty who came out of the exchange on top, setting a strong benchmark of 2m17.328s for competitors to try and beat.
As the session progressed, Batty’s lap remained unbeaten for almost a staggering forty minutes. It was eventually MilnAir Racing’s Jack Wright who rose to the challenge, with the #46 driver’s best lap time of 2m17.213s claiming pole position for his team. Batty’s lap was good enough for second on the grid, just 0.115s shy of the polesitters.
KaHoona’s Race Team and Burton Power Racing made up the second row, courtesy of good laps from Kosta Kyritis and Tom Valentine respectively. Ka Tastrophy, Orkasport, Shine Automotive, Wolf Motorsport, PRO-AM Racing and AFK Racing rounded out the top ten qualifiers.
Race
An immediate recovery from a slow start ensured it was MilnAir Racing in the lead after the opening lap, while an early safety car period triggered a number of teams to pit in the hopes of gaining an advantage. MilnAir Racing and KaHoona’s Race Team both stayed out and an enthralling battled ensued.
Less than one second separated the leading duo throughout the opening hour, with just 0.664s between them at the first hour classification. Burton Power Racing were in P3, with Orkasport and an early-stopping PRO-AM Racing trailing closely behind. Boston Racing were a team on the rise, as was the Autotech Motorsport #64 KA.
The gap between MilnAir Racing and KaHoona’s Race Team increased during the second hour, but the trailing #333 KA still had the leaders in sight. It was becoming increasingly apparent that pit stop strategy was going to play a huge part in the outcome of the race, with the early stoppers pushing hard to leapfrog rivals.
PRO-AM Racing were at the front of the charge and, by the time the race headed into its final hour, the #8 KA was only ten seconds behind MilnAir Racing in second-place. KaHoona’s Race Team were not far behind in third, while KAmotion, No Nonsense Racing and Autotech Motorsport #65 had enjoyed tremendous stints to be running in the top six.
Despite the pressure being applied by PRO-AM Racing throughout the final hour, MilnAir Racing wouldn’t crack to take the checkered flag first and make it two wins from two this season. A huge congratulations to the team and their drivers: Jack Wright, George Wright and Jonny Milner.
Excellent race strategy and solid driving stints from Oliver Furnell, Will Hillyard and Josh Benson saw the #8 PRO-AM Racing KA take the second step of the podium, while a terrific KaHoona’s Race Team performance was rewarded with a third-place finish for drivers Kosta Kyritis, Philip Truman and Ian Perkins. Congratulations to all!
A tremendous rise through the field saw Boston Racing finish a mere 3.471s off the podium in fourth, but the pace of the team was apparent with driver Eduardo Correia sealing the fastest lap of the race with a stellar 2m17.743s.
KAmotion, Shine Automotive, Autotech Motorsport #65, AFK Racing, Burton Power Racing and No Nonsense Racing completed the top ten finishers.
Elsewhere, KaFC Racing earned the votes of the Cheshire Orange Army to win their first-ever Dagenham Dustbin, in just their second race with series!
