Round 4 - Event Report

Qualifying

Qualifying set the tone for the event, with the top thirteen cars separated by just 1 second. It was the #46 Milnair, with Jack Wright behind the wheel, who narrowly claimed pole, edging ahead of the #131 ‘Ka Tastrophy’, with Adam Bonham behind the wheel, while Tom Ingram produced a stunning third in the #49 LDR Performance KA.

Race

As the lights went out, it was MilnAir who led the field into Redgate, with the Ka-Tastrophy car dropping down the order to allow the #555 Sukaru to slot into second. Ingram was hot on their heels in the #49 LDR Performance car, while further back the #3 Windgat Racing car battled hard with the #333 Kahoona car, as Burton Power #1 remained within striking distance.

Still on the opening lap, Sukaru leapfrogged Milnair into McLeans to take the lead, with #49 keen to replicate the move and staying glued to the bumper of the MilnAir car. However, Milnair showed great confidence through the Esses to regain the lead, while #49 capitalised on the action to move into second.

You could have been forgiven for thinking this was a last-lap shootout rather than the opening lap of an endurance race, such was the racing on display. Hard but fair, the three-way battle for the lead continued through the opening stages, with positions constantly changing before Ingram made a spirited move into turn one to take the race lead, with Sukaru following closely behind!

As the race reached the one-hour mark, the KAs began to bring strategy into play. The Milnair car led overall, while LDR Performance dropped down the order and Sukaru made its first pit stop. This promoted Windgat Racing into provisional third, with Sukaru just behind and holding the fastest lap. The #12 Pro-Am Racing car rounded out the top five.

As the race reached halfway, it was George Wright in the #46 Milnair car leading the way having set a new fastest lap. Windgat Racing remained in second, with Kahoonas now occupying the final provisional podium position.

With one hour remaining, the race was well and truly on! MilnAir continued to lead the way with Windgat Racing still in pursuit, while #23 Kaston Martin had been one of the consistent gainers throughout the race to move into the final podium position. Early race leaders Sukaru and LDR Performance Tuning had both fought their way back into the top five, setting up a tense final stint.

After five hours of racing, it was Milnair that took the chequered flag to secure victory, with the LDR Performance car finishing second, and the Ka Tastrophy car completing the podium. Sukaru came home in fourth and claimed the fastest lap of the race on the way with a 1:33.560. Rounding out the top five was #180 Team Shine, producing a commendable drive from 10th on the grid.

Dagenham Dustbin privileges were awarded to MilnAir for their first-ever Dustbin in EnduroKA, as the iconic Yellow & Purple KA wowed the Marshals!
